Hey there, beautiful friend!

Welcome to my blog, Be Positively Limitless. Just like this gorgeous mural, it is a work in progress… and so am I!

Just like you, I am constantly evolving and growing into the new phase of life I find myself in. I am always looking for ways to expand my mind and find comfort in my own skin.

I believe that a positive mindset is the reason I am where I am today. Learning to embrace positivity and gratitude has helped me overcome some of the most difficult times of my life.

I’m not saying it was easy… It hasn’t been. I’m saying that I’m living proof it can be done and I believe that you can do it too.

My Midlife Story

As a small-town, Gen-X regular everygirl, I thought I had the perfect life… a solid marriage, two beautiful daughters, a well-established career as an elementary teacher, and a white 2-story house right in my hometown where my parents still lived.

At 45 my life took a left turn from the road I had been steadily paving in front of me. I was blindsided by a divorce after 25 years of marriage and lost both of my parents, all while raising two teenage daughters and teaching second grade.

While I believed that I was all set to reap the comfortable rewards of my sacrifices and ease into a predictable phase of midlife, I was instead forced to take my story in a radically different direction. On my own.

I had to start over and write a brand new chapter in my book of life at a time when I thought I already knew the ending.

I made a lot of mistakes along the way and had to pick myself up off of the bathroom floor more than once.

In an unexpected twist, I found that when I finally let go of the life I thought I was supposed to be living, a brand new life that I never knew I wanted was waiting for me.

  • I relied on my faith and my belief in a higher power that always had my back.

  • I focused on the good things around me, learning that it would bring more good things to me.

  • I pursued a new path toward happiness through doors that had never been opened to me before.

I credit a positive mindset to propelling me forward. I leaned on my family, my faith and myself to pick up the pieces of my shattered life and put them back together in a completely new way.

First I had to let go of the past and focus on the beautiful things I had in the present. When I did that, I discovered that I had more to offer than I knew, and my future was not pre-set. I could rewrite my story in any direction I chose … changing the plot, characters, and even the setting.

My Midlife Awakening

When I accepted that this chapter of my life would be different, and possibly even better than it was before, changes began to unfold before my eyes that I had never even imagined.

How it’s going

I started reading about how other women had gotten through similar situations and I applied those lessons to my own life. With each new strategy I tried, I took another step out of my comfort zone and stretched my wings a bit more.

Long story short: I took a few risks and met and married the love of my life, got my Master’s degree, retired from teaching and changed careers.

Last year we packed up and moved from the midwest to the southeastern coast where I can see the sun almost every day and dip my toes in the ocean whenever it calls my name.

I know, that’s a lot of change in a short period of time. Is every day perfect? Of course not. I’m still making mistakes and figuring it out. But I am looking ahead and not behind. And I’m not on the bathroom floor anymore, crying over what I lost.

Here’s the thing, when I took the time to look for the good around me, I found that there was good everywhere I looked. And I learned that change can be a good thing, too.

The entrance to midlife has sparked a whole new variety of other new changes to navigate, as well: physically, emotionally and mentally. Health scares, brain fog, insecurities, perimenopause… You know what I’m talking about, right?

Do you want to live the life that you have always dreamed of…

or maybe one even greater than you ever thought possible?

If you’ve been putting your priorities and dreams on the back burner for “someday” let me be the one to tell you that your time is here.

I want you to wake up each morning and feel gratitude for everything that you have in your life, and to know that you also have a plan for attracting more good things into your circle.

I want you to move the things you don’t want out of your way and believe that you can build the life that you were meant for.

It is all at your own fingertips, and by cultivating a positive mindset you can begin to move forward and make things happen.

As Gen-X midlife everygirls, we have the wisdom, experience and gumption to put ourselves at the front of the line (finally!) and pursue whatever it is that fulfills us.

Follow along and let’s do this together. We’ve got this.

We are positively limitless.

Believe you can and you’re halfway there!
